The mission of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago (GNC) is to unite and empower Ghanaians in the Greater Chicago area by upholding democratic values, promoting cultural heritage, and fostering social, economic, and educational advancement through inclusive representation and responsible governance
Building on this mission, GNC also seeks to support Ghanaians and Chicagoans alike in actively contributing to the city’s cultural, social, and economic vitality. Through partnerships, civic engagement, and cultural exchange, we preserve Ghanaian heritage while fostering strong community ties and promoting collaboration across neighborhoods. Our programs—including cultural festivals, health initiatives, youth mentorship, and entrepreneurial support—are designed to celebrate Ghanaian traditions, enhance community well-being, and empower individuals to participate meaningfully in the broader life of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
Our Vision:
We envision a vibrant, united, and empowered Ghanaian community that contributes meaningfully to the cultural, social, and economic vitality of the City of Chicago and beyond; where Ghanaians and their neighbors continue to work together to preserve heritage, inspire leadership, and create opportunities that promote equity, wellness, and prosperity for all.
