His presence highlighted Ghana’s longstanding commitment to peace, its vibrant cultural heritage, and its role as a model of democracy and unity in Africa. Ghana’s example of peaceful transitions of power and its spirit of hospitality continue to inspire the global community.

The celebration was a powerful display of diversity and unity. Students and representatives of countries carried flags representing every UN member state, as well as the UN flag, proudly raising them high in front of nearly 1,000 attendees. As each country’s name was called, the speaker and the audience echoed in unison: “Peace in…”—a moment that symbolically connected the world together in peace.

Volunteers, community leaders, performers, and dignitaries filled the plaza with energy, contributing to an atmosphere that reflected Chicago’s unique diversity and its deep commitment to global understanding.

For the Ghana National Council of Chicago, this was more than just a symbolic moment—it was a reaffirmation of its mission to promote Ghanaian culture, foster solidarity among Ghanaians abroad, and contribute meaningfully to the multicultural fabric of Chicago.

Mr. Ameyaw’s role in carrying and waving the Ghana flag was both dignified and inspiring. It reminded all present that peace is not only the absence of conflict but also the active pursuit of unity, respect, and shared purpose.
